So, finally the end of the year is approaching. I’ve been always feeling so remorseful that I couldn’t post much information about Shizuoka this year. Lots of more tourist resources here to report. Oh, and some messages. I have to apologize to those who gave me messages in our website. No responses……too bad. ρ(тωт`)
Anyway,
Merry Christmas to all of you !

I’m so sorry that I’ve not updated reports for a long time. I was in Taichung, Taiwan, for the tourist promotion activity of Shizuoka Prefecture last week.
“Taichung International Tourism Expo” was held from Sep 30 – Oct 3 in Taichung World Trade Center, which allegedly gathered 120 thousands visitors in 4 days. Amazing, isn’t it ? I saw lots of associations, communities and tourist agencies in the booth with attractive and appealing ads and brochures on their counter and hundreds of thousands of people passing before our booth. Now, I don’t mean to tell you the details of the expo here but just want to thank every people around who helped me in Taiwan.
謝謝你!^^
Basically I’m not supposed to get involved in Taiwan Project but that experience definitely provoked something about studying Chinese from inside me. I’ll try, maybe, possibly……^^;
By the way, we’ve already been moving for the next tourist exhibition in Taipei and Kaohsiung, Taiwan.^^ I hope we can have lots of customers again to motivate the airline companies for more frequent direct flights to & from Shizuoka & Taiwan.
Have a good day!^^

Today, I’ll tell you about a Japanese Tradition in May. Is it OK with me to write something not about Shizuoka? Yes, because it is really important for me to promote your understanding of Japan before helping you enjoy Shizuoka.
Now, have you ever seen or heard of Flying Carps? In Japan we say “Koinobori” with the image of carps jumping over falls and to upper streams.
We celebrate May 5th as Children’s Day. Remember once I talked about “Golden Week”? Children’s Day is one of the day consisting of Golden Week, to celebrate their boys to grow up healthy and vigorously. Yes, I said “Boys”. So what about girls? Another day is prepared for girls’ celebration but I’ll explain some other time.
But why carps? In Japan, we consider red sea breams as the most auspicious fish.
From here, my studies and ideas:
In ancient China, there was a “Dragon-Gate” in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, which was a narrow point between crags, and it was considered, for its unstoppable torrent, no fish could ascend through this gate. But one day, only a single carp could reach to the Dragon-Gate and passed through it. The carp is said to have been allowed to become a dragon. As you know, the dragon is believed as a symbol of the Emperor in China and we have much influence in culture from China.
Now, you see the reason why carps have been picked up as a fish for boys.
You can find Koinobori all around Japan from after the mid-April. It was originally a single black carp for the boy, but nowadays they fly several carps showing basically black for the father, red for the mother, blue for the boy and a pink for the girl.
It is always fun and sometimes mysterious to know other country’s culture and tradition.

“Sakura”, our symbol of spring in Japan, the cherry blossom, is beginning to fall and young leaves have been popping out of it. Along with it, our official blog has been refreshed and I, Satoshi, the newly rebooted master of “Green Tea Club”, am supposed to show you the enchanted Shizuoka world by reporting my small travel all around.
I don’t introduce myself here on this article, but you’ll know little by little, by reading my writings, about what I like or hate, how I think, and even where I live.
Anyway, I’m ready for the first report and will begin with my sweetheart hometown. What’s coming up? You’ll see very soon!
Just let me say hello to all of you today!
If you can’t wait for information about Shizuoka, stay right there and
