Fireworks in Shizuoka in July [Event Information]

画像(310x232)・拡大画像(640x480)

It’s been quite a long time since I posted the last article. You know what I’m engaged in recently ? I work for the international education trip for students. What is it ? It’s a kind of school exchange that is to be made between a school in Shizuoka and one from abroad, mostly from Taiwan. I stand between them to arrange requests or problems from each side to create a better memories for students ! Good job, isn’t it ?^^ Here is one of the pictures that tells how happy they looked. If you are a teacher who has been thinking of international school exchange with Japanese students, please feel free to contact me ♪

Now, here is the information about fireworks in Shizuoka in July. I feel so sorry for myself not to be able to spare time for posting this kind of information on the website. No posting last month……awful……maybe I should reflect on my own everyday task.^^;

Information from Shizuoka [Information]

Find Shizuoka’s traditional Hina Dolls in Tokyo !

画像(310x228)・拡大画像(523x385)

Remember the “Mt. Fuji Green Tea Plaza” in Tokyo that I reported the other day ? There now you can find very tiny and adorable suspended hina dolls inherited in Higashi-izu Town since old days. Please see the details about Hina-dolls of Higashiizu Town from here.
Hida Dolls will be expected in the Tokyo office until March 2nd. I personally want them to stay longer but they say that if you don’t get it over with by March 3, you − especially girls − would be left alone away from marriage.
Anyway, enjoy our lovely tradition over wonderful green tea !

Atami Baien ( Plum Garden ) Plum Blossom Festival extended until March 11

画像(310x231)・拡大画像(599x448)

Owing to delayed blossoming caused by unexpected cold weather, Plum Blossom Festival in Atami Baien will be extended until March 11. As of Feb 21, they say that 30% of all are in bloom. It’s getting warmer and warmer in Shizuoka these days. I just wonder if they open up at one burst !^^
Last year’s report is available from here.

Kawazu-zakura Cherry Blossom Festival extended until March 18

画像(310x232)・拡大画像(640x480)

Unconventional cold weather also affected the blossoming time of our featuring festival in winter, “Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival”. Originally, though, it’s supposed to be held until March 10, due to the unexpected delay, it will be extended until March 18 as “Kawazu Haru Urara ( Balmy Spring ) Festival”. As of Feb 24, only 10-20% of all are in bloom. Not yet good to see. Still, you can enjoy B-class Gourmet or other local foods at food stalls standing all the way along the river. Also please refer to the repot of 2011 from here.

I myself have never seen it before so I feel so happy that I may be able to visit it this year. The Central Park is, by the way, one of my favorite in Fuji City. Actually I’ve been there many times to walk around, and sometimes to join the flea market. So beautiful especially in early summer with greenery ! You will also see full of roses against the background of magnificent Mt. Fuji in May ! Dances, roses, and Mt, Fuji. Exciting, isn’t it ?^^

They say as many as 70,000 visitors are expected this year and they’ve been planning to have special events such as performances of world’s artists and varieties of gourmets of the world ! Whoever likes it to see or join, please feel free to contact “Fujisan Tourism & Communication Bureau” or the Executive Committee for further information.

Recommended New Year’s Events in Shizuoka [Information]

Brand-new year has got started and it’s getting colder and colder in Japan. Today, I’ll introduce some hot events of Shizuoka Prefecture in this season. Details can be found from our old reports linked together with “from here”^^

Atami Baien Plum Blossom Festival ( Jan 1 – Mar 4 )

画像(350x261)・拡大画像(599x448)

Atami Baien is one of the largest plum gardens in Shizuoka. You can reach there by bus from JR Atami Station. As of Jan 17, plums are just beginning to bloom and will be best in February.
As you know, Atami is one of the largest onsen spa resorts in Japan and very accessible from Tokyo or Nagoya and Osaka. Actually, it takes only 50 minutes from Tokyo by Shinkansen high-speed train. Please find more about Atami from here.

Kawazu-zakura Cherry Blossom Festival ( Feb 5 – Mar 10 )

画像(350x273)・拡大画像(569x444)

Sakura cherry blossom is generally known as a Japan’s symbolic flower basically recognized as the one in spring, but Kawazu-zakura is not the common one. It opens up even in cold weather and established as one of the most precocious species of cherry blossoms that normally blooms in late-Jan – early-Mar. More wonderful with Nanohana rape blossoms ! Also enjoy a variety of local gourmets at food-stalls that are crammed with along Kawazu River !
Kawazu-zakura cherry blossom Festival is held between Feb 5 – Mar 10. Those who are coming by car, please prepare yourself for taking time in traffic. Trains are more recommended. For further information, please reach from here.

Hina-no Tsurushi Kazari suspended hina-doll ornament Festival ( Jan 20 – Mar 31 )

画像(291x310)・拡大画像(448x477)

Hina-doll’s Festival is a Japan’s traditional event for girls on Mar 3. Generally, parents set up a display of Hina-dolls to celebrate their daughter’s growth and here in Higashi-izu Town, they have their own heritage culture. They make small figures by hand and suspend them in the rooms, wishing their daughter or grand-daughter to grow disciplined. Hina-no Tsurushi Kazari Festival is held between Jan 20 – Mar 31. Higashiizu Town is also well known as a landing port of Kinmedai alfonsino as well as Shimoda. I hope you enjoy it, too ! Details are available from here.
