The photograph of Fuji mountain-climbing sceneryThe best season for mountain climbing of Mt. Fuji is from July 1st to August 31st when it is open to the public. With proper equipment and a relaxed pace, climbing Mt. Fuji can be a most valuable and enjoyable experience for everybody. There are three mountain-climbing routes on the Shizuoka side of Mt. Fuji. By the Fujinomiya Trail, starting from Fujinomiya-guchi, you can go by car up to the point 2,400 meters above sea level. With the Gotemba Trail, you can enjoy the dynamic Sunabashiri on the way down with a view of the Houei caldera which looks like a gigantic bowl. There is also the Subashiri Trail, starting from Subashiri-Guchi, where buses from the base of Fuji stop. It is a popular trail for casual climbers. During the mountain-climbing season, the buses go from Shin-Fuji Sta., where Shinkansen stops, to Fujinomiya and Omote-Fujinomiya-guchi, via Fuji Skyline Road. Come climb Mt. Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan! Challenge its peak and enjoy Japan's best panoramic view.
