In Japan the Ayu is very popular amongst anglers. Ayu fishing season begins on the 20th of May on the Okitsu River in Shizuoka which is the earliest one in the eastern part of Japan. Within a few weeks later many other beautiful rivers will begin Ayu fishing season in Shizuoka, followed by the Kano River, Kawazu River, Naka River (Izu Area), Abe River, Oi River (Central Area), Miyakoda River and the Tenryu River (the Western Area). When we see many anglers along the riverside, we can tell that summer is here.
