Shuzenji Niji-no-Sato
Located on a hill along the bus route passing Mt. Daruma and Heda Pass northwest of Shuzenji Spa, this leisure park was opened in April 1990 inside Shuzenji Nature Park. The 50-hectare park makes skillful use of the rolling countryside, and is divided into Western and Japanese themed areas. The Western area has an English Village and a Canadian Village modeled on a 17th century village, and a Western Flower Garden, which are connected by a small English-made steam locomotive. In the Japanese area there is the Izu Village, with houses lined up along a stone paved sloping street selling local specialties. There is the Takumi Village where visitors can experience and observe the traditional manufacturing processes for paper making, Edo tops and Edo yuzen dyeing, embroidery, ceramics making, and other traditional crafts. The Japanese garden is also lovely in all four seasons, with flowering rhododendron, Japanese irises, daffodils and Japanese apricots.
